About David
Kansas City, Kansas native David Haley has served six years in the Kansas House of Representatives and was first elected to the Kansas Senate in 2000. He represents parts of Kansas City in Wyandotte County.
David served as the Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee for over a decade and previously served as the Ranking Member of the Senate Public Health & Welfare Committee. Formerly the Chairman of the Kansas Black Legislative Caucus (2010-2014), he also served as Delegate-At-Large on the Executive Board of the National Black Caucus of State Legislators where he first served as Vice-Chair, then Chair, of Region 11 / NBCSL for six years.
David is a graduate of Morehouse College and of Howard University Law School. A former Wyandotte County Assistant District Attorney, David has worked in legal capacities at every level of government; city, county, state and federal as well as in a prominent private law firm. In the Kansas Senate, David has prioritized issues of responsible tax policy, gun safety, and a strong economy.
