About Karen
Karen Thurlow is a mother and an attorney with a proven track record of working together with opposing sides to reach compromise. She also volunteers with Lead to Read KC, providing reading and mentoring support to elementary students in high-need schools.
Karen has been a Johnson County resident for over 30 years. The daughter of educators, Karen chose to raise her two children in the Blue Valley School District because she knows the importance of strong schools. Her grown children live in the Kansas City area: her daughter is an OB-GYN resident and her son is a mental health counselor.
As Senator, Karen will be a strong advocate for quality schools, accessible healthcare, reproductive freedom, and fair tax policy. Karen’s campaign is fueled by a desire to reach residents who feel disconnected – and a belief that we all deserve leaders who listen.
