About Pat

Pat Pettey was elected to her first term in the Kansas Senate in 2012. She represents parts of Wyandotte County and Johnson County.

From a very young age, Pat learned the importance of giving back to the community. Her parents, Harley and Ginny Huggins inspired her to pursue leadership roles in her community through example. They both served on PTO boards, ran bingo for the school, and Harley coached girls softball and served in the Kansas Legislature.

Pat is a retired public educator, community leader, mother and grandmother. She has also served her community as a Unified Government commissioner and an educator in the Turner school district for 36 years. Pat has a passion for our community and is committed to the citizens of Kansas.

In the Kansas Senate, Pat has supported tax relief for all Kansans, including cutting property taxes, increasing the standard education, eliminating tax on Social Security benefits, eliminating the state sales tax on groceries, and providing tax relief for child care costs. She has also focused on delivering quality public education and increasing healthcare access.
